Frequently Asked Questions
Windows Postscript Printer Drivers
There can be problems when trying to print to RIPs using the built in windows printer drivers, particularly with early versions of windows & winnt.
Although it is not a universal answer we have found that most of the problems can be overcome using Adobe's Postscript Printer Driver (winsteng) and PPD for the printer in question. These can be found on Adobe's web site by following the link.
PCs and MACs in the same environment
Unfortunately PCs and MACs do not want to talk to each other since they communicate using differing network protocols. This also can apply to PCs printing to RIPs, because these were initially designed to work with MACs. This is where MACLAN comes in. It is loaded onto your PC and gives it the ability to talk APPLETALK, the language used by MACs.
